I thought my perfectionism was a positive personality trait - it helped me work hard and achieve excellent grades, what's not to love right? But actually all it did was keep me stuck in a vicious cycle where my self-worth was tied in to what I achieved - getting straight A grades meant that I was good enough.

And it's a dangerous game to play when your self-worth is overly dependent on the pursuit and achievement of high standards. It meant that I'd either fail to meet my standards and fall into self-criticism, or more often I'd meet them but then decide that the original standards mustn't have been demanding enough. Queue the anxiety and burnout.

It wasn't until I found mindfulness and therapy that I realised perfectionism was not my friend and that I could live a much happier life without it. And much to my surprise I was also pleased and relieved to learn that I could actually still have my high standards, but without all the perfectionist baggage! Win win.

And the rest is history. Here I am now as a therapist and mindfulness teacher,  with a mission to help women understand how to overcome perfectionism so they can finally feel good enough.

My journey to becoming a therapist started as an anxious and perfectionistic teenager.

Why I became a CBT Therapist & Mindfulness Teacher

I'm a Principal Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, fully accredited as both a therapist and supervisor with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I've been practicing CBT for over10 years and have spent most of my time working in the NHS as a Senior Therapist and Manager, and currently as Deputy Clinical Lead for a mental health service in Hertfordshire called IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies). 

I'm also proud to call myself a Mindfulness Teacher - specifically a Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Teacher.  And soon I'll also be a qualified Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher too.

My Experience

I have a 3 year Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology - and got to write my dissertation on OCD under the supervision of Professor Mark Freeston.

I have a 2 year Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. And another 2 year Post-Graduate Diploma in CBT for Children & Young People.

I did my Mindfulness Teacher Training with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, and I've also completed two further specialist mindfulness trainings at the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

And last but not least I've also completed trainings in Compassion Focused Therapy and Group Therapy, and I'm currently training in Mindful Self-Compassion at The Center for MSC.

My Training

As a CBT Therapist I'm highly trained to work with clients experiencing anxiety, stress and depression. This includes Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, OCD, and Panic Disorder.

Nevertheless my area of specialism is working with women struggling with Perfectionism (and Low Self-Esteem). I've attended numerous trainings on treating perfectionism with the renowned professor Roz Shafran, and there's nothing I'm better at and love more than helping my clients overcome perfectionism.

As an experienced CBT Therapist I'm also able to incorporate techniques from my other trainings in Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion, to help find the right unique formula that works for you.

Or going for a long walk with my fiance in leafy Hertfordshire, where I'm from in the UK. And now more recently, when I'm not in the therapy room I'm being a mummy to my adorable identical twin girls!

After having embraced the London life for almost a decade, I moved back to the countryside a few years ago to buy my first home in St Albans. Since then I've moved to somewhere even more rural surrounded by fields and horses, and continue to fuel my addiction for home renovation.

I come from a family of property developers so I'm drawn to all things home design and improvement - yes Location Location Location and Grand Designs are my guilty pleasures.

Other than that I enjoy the simple life, being a twin mama, seeing family and friends, running my team in the NHS and building my business, and trying to restrain myself from online shopping!


I'm usually cuddling my dog Minnie (the best looking golden toy cockapoo you've ever seen!).
